Global Research Effort on Hilsa shad (Tenualosa ilisha)-Insights from Scientometrics

Abstract Tenualosa ilisha also known as Hilsa shad is one of the important anadromous fish species in South Asia and some middle eastern countries because its economic, cultural ecological significance. The importance hilsa this region has driven a large number scientific studies quantification these to identify knowledge gaps future research directions. For purpose, we conducted scientometric analysis on published Web Science database between 2000 2022. Our results indicated that articles increased from 2019 2020 was correlated with global annual production during same period. Keyword identified 10 thematic areas research. evolution ‘the management fisheries Bay Bengal surrounding countries’ had more recent interest among community. On other hand, ‘post-harvesting products’ have been conventional fewer publications. Thematic related stock assessment genetics state-of-art techniques are needed gain comprehensive understanding population structure. Studies trophic ecology aquaculture key topics need novel technology-based More socio-economic encouraged understand sustainability management. Overall, our highlight necessity for improvements local international collaborations towards sustainable trans-boundary fishery region.
